How to use AnimalTrace.
Short, step-by-step answers for owners and breeders using the AnimalTrace app.
Getting started
Create your account and add your animals, one at a time or from a spreadsheet.
- Create your account Sign up for AnimalTrace, confirm your email, and sign in to the app for the first time.
- Add an animal Create an animal in AnimalTrace by hand, or bring in several at once from a spreadsheet, and what to do when you reach your plan's limit.
- Import your animals from a spreadsheet Bring in a roster of animals from a CSV or Excel file, check each row before anything is created, and fix the rows the import can't read.
Records and documents
Keep documents on a record, edit an animal's details, and take an animal off your list.
- Keep documents on an animal's record Upload registration papers, pedigrees, health clearances, and lab reports to an animal's record, so they're in one place when someone asks.
- Edit an animal's details Change an animal's name or breed, fill in a missing sex or date of birth, and ask for a correction when a detail you can't edit is wrong.
- Remove an animal from your list Take an animal off your list when you no longer keep it, what happens to its records, and how that differs from deleting its data.
Breeding
Check pairings, plan a season, and record what happened.
- Check a pairing for carrier risk Use the pairing simulator to see the chance of clear, carrier, and affected offspring for a sire and dam, and their offspring's inbreeding. Client Pro
- Rank mates and pairings Use the Breeding plan to rank mates for one animal, or pairs across your animals, with carrier risk, an inbreeding limit, and the reasons shown. Client Pro
- Plan a breeding season Use the Season planner to rank your pairings, choose the matings for a season, see what they would mean for the next generation, and save the plan. Client Pro
- Record a breeding outcome Record the result of a mating, such as a litter or a foal, with the dates and how many offspring were born and healthy.
