What the checks use

A check is only as good as the records behind it.

AnimalTrace shows what each check was based on, so you know how far to trust it.

  • Carrier risk uses the lab carrier results on record for both animals. Results you bring in from old reports appear on the record now; using them in pairing checks is coming.
  • Inbreeding comes from the pedigree on record. Ancestors that aren't recorded can't be counted, so fill in the pedigree before you rely on a low number.
  • Coverage depends on the conditions set up for your species. Horses, dogs, and cats are covered today; ask us about the conditions you test for.

Do I need Client Pro to check a pairing?
Yes. Client Free keeps records for up to 5 animals and reads your old reports. Pairing checks, mate ranking, planning tools, and Animal Passports come with Client Pro.
Which conditions can it check?
Conditions AnimalTrace has set up for your species, for animals that have a lab carrier result on record. Tell us which conditions you test for and we will confirm.
Can I use the reports I already have?
Yes. Upload them and confirm what AnimalTrace reads, and they join the animal's record straight away. Using results from uploaded reports in pairing checks is coming.
Does AnimalTrace score breeders?
No. Rankings are for a goal you set, with the reasons shown. AnimalTrace does not publish breeder scores.
